While there are no recordings of Phish playing this standard 12-bar-blues tune, the original has been covered by dozens of artists. Phish’s only known rendition on 2/23/89 was probably inspired by the Allman Brothers Band’s 1971 recording (which received heavy radio play), and possibly by the 1988 Mike Figgis film Stormy Monday, given Mike’s film studies.
