GOLF REGISTRATION OPENS, SPONSORS SOUGHT

8/31/19 in DenverRegistration has started for the Fourth Annual Runaway Open charity golf tournament for Phish fans, the morning of the second show of the upcoming Dick's run, over Labor Day weekend.

We'll have up to 80 players this time, with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. (preceded by a group photo and warm send-off), playing at Willis Case. As before, we'll have contests - but it's all about swingin' sticks with fans, so don't sweat it if you're rusty, new to the game, or prioritizing fun over competition. So are we. :)

Early registration is strongly encouraged. All three previous events have sold out, with a waiting list we couldn't satisfy. The number of players has nearly doubled each year (16 to 32 to 54), but we've also opened registration earlier, to facilitate players' planning and to help find more players. So act soon - and please help spread the word!

Register by completing this online form and then making a donation to the Mockingbird Foundation of $150 per player, which covers all fees, cart, lunch, an event golf shirt, and a gift bag of goodies.

We also invite sponsors, of any kind or size.

  • If you're an artist (shirts? hats? pins? stickers?) with some extra lot wares, we'd love to fill the gift bag each player will get and would be happy to acknowledge the in-kind donation with a letter for tax purposes.
  • If you work for a company that could offer gift certificates, we'd love to again have prizes for the top foursome, closest to hole, longest drive, and some raffling, as we did last year (including $400 in shoes!).
  • If you work for a company that could make a financial donation to the Mockingbird Foundation, of any size, we'd be happy to list it as a sponsor of the event.

The vision for the 5th or 6th event (since the end of the 1st) has been to have something special at each tee: B&J tastings? selfie w/ a lyricist? livestream table for a podcast? We welcome your contributions of items, proceeds, and ideas to help move the 4th Annual event in that direction.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!

If you liked this blog post, one way you could "like" it is to make a donation to The Mockingbird Foundation, the sponsor of Phish.net. Support music education for children, and you just might change the world.
